Keep smaller alterations accurate
Useful in tighter access
Hand-held equipment can suit places where larger mounted systems are impractical.
Edges trimmed to line
We follow a defined mark when extending or tidying an existing opening.
Method limits respected
We change equipment when cut depth or shape exceeds hand-sawing benefits.
A practical method for smaller defined cuts
Not every alteration needs a track fixed to the wall or a machine set over the floor. We use hand-held sawing equipment for localised concrete and masonry cuts where the opening, edge detail and access suit the method. Typical tasks include trimming an uneven edge, extending an existing opening or cutting around a marked section. The cutting line is set out clearly before work begins. This gives the operator a firm reference and helps protect the material that must remain, especially where the finished edge will meet a frame or another construction detail.

Used where its reach and control make sense
Hand sawing has practical limits. Material thickness, reinforcement, blade reach and the operator's working position all affect what can be cut safely and neatly. Any piece that will become free must be supported before the final line is completed. If the depth, size or geometry is better suited to wall sawing, floor sawing or core drilling, we will plan around that method instead. Choosing the right equipment prevents a useful hand-held saw from being pushed into work it was not designed to do.
Frequently asked questions
What thickness can hand sawing cut?
The practical depth depends on the blade, material, reinforcement and safe operator access. We assess those points before confirming the method. Deeper cuts may need wall sawing, floor sawing or another planned approach.
Can hand sawing extend an existing opening?
Yes, where the material, cut depth and structural requirements suit it. We need the final dimensions and a clearly marked line. Any section being released must also have suitable support and a safe removal route.
Will you recommend another method if needed?
Yes. If hand-held equipment cannot achieve the required reach, control or geometry, we assess a more suitable cutting or drilling method. The aim is to complete the defined cut properly, not force one tool onto every job.
